About the data

Data Sources

GE Watch combines several feeds to give you the most complete picture of the Old School RuneScape Grand Exchange. Pricing comes from two complementary sources — the official Jagex feed and the community-driven RuneLite API — while item metadata is sourced from osrsapi.com.

Where our data comes from

Official Grand Exchange Pricing

Updated daily

Jagex publishes an official price and daily trading volume for every tradeable item through the Grand Exchange API — the same data you see on the in-game GE price graphs, and the authoritative record of long-term market activity.

We fetch this feed once per day and use it to drive our historical price charts, daily volume figures, and long-term trend analysis. Because it averages a full day of trading, it's best for spotting sustained movements rather than short-term spikes.

RuneLite Real-Time Pricing

Updated every minute

The RuneLite API is a community-run service that aggregates live trade data reported by RuneLite client users. It publishes the latest instant-buy and instant-sell prices for every tradeable item, along with short-interval volume figures.

We poll this feed every minute so that margins, recent activity, and latest-price displays reflect current market conditions. It's the best source for flipping, margin checking, and anything else that depends on knowing what an item is trading for right now.

Item Metadata from osrsapi.com

Synced periodically

Beyond prices, every item has metadata that rarely changes but is essential for context — names, examine text, Grand Exchange buy limits, high alchemy values, member status, and icons. We pull this information from osrsapi.com, a dedicated OSRS data API.

This lets us enrich price data with useful details — for example, calculating alchemy profit requires knowing the high alch value — and keeps our item catalog in sync with new releases and in-game changes.
